Greetings from the President

I greet you in the name of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. I am excited, yet humbled, to have the opportunity to serve as President of Mississippi Baptist Seminary and Bible College. This Seminary has a long history of preparing pastors and lay leaders to do the work of the kingdom. The challenges are great before us, but with the help of God we can accomplish the things we believe will make our Seminary and Bible College second to none. We are serious and committed to the idea of moving our Seminary and Bible College toward credibility and full accreditation. We are happy to have Dr. John McCarty as Dean, and Rachel Stiff as Office Manager. We also thank God for our registrar, Extension Deans, and all of our instructors. A special thanks to all of you, our supporters in the work of Christ as we set about preparing preachers, teachers, and lay leaders for God’s program.

We are working closely with the Board of Trustees to continue to develop and implement our road map (Strategic Plan) to credibility and accreditation. In order to obtain accreditation we must build a strong curriculum and seek competent and qualified Staff. We will continue to work with our Extension Deans to bring all into full compliance with the guidelines and disciplines of our Seminary and Bible College, as well as assuring that all students receive the same level of Christian Education. We also will be working with our General Missionary Baptist State Convention along with other Conventions, Associations, churches and Alumni groups in establishing scholarships for students who may not be financially able to pursue a Christian Education degree. Our goal is to increase our enrollment by providing a credible education for our students and becoming more Pastor-Church and Christian-friendly.

We are working with our State Convention (GMBSC) to move forward with our Building Program which will be done in phases, based on the principle of “pay as you go.” The building program includes the addition of classrooms, library, common area, and a chapel. The existing building will be used to house our Administrative Offices. We have revised our financial plan to first finance our annual Budget, and then to support our building program and future endowment. The endowment will be necessary for us to become a sound and stable institution and will also aid us as we seek full accreditation. This plan is based on the giving principle found in Exodus 25:2, “Speak unto the children of Israel, that they bring me an offering: of every man that giveth it willingly with his heart ye shall take my offering.” This plan is designed for Churches and organizations, to encourage members to become Friends of the Seminary by giving a yearly contribution of $52.00 a year ($1.00 per week). Churches, organizations, businesses, individuals or Church members can become a partner of the Seminary and Bible College by giving yearly donations in one of the three categories; (1) Silver Partner$260.00 annually; (2)Gold Partner$540.00 annually; Platinum Partner $1,080.00 or above annually. We also welcome any monetary gifts that churches, organizations, businesses, or individuals are willing to give. For more information concerning our financial campaign, please call the Seminary Office. We ask for your prayers and support as we seek God’s guidance and His blessings as we move forward. “TO GOD BE THE GLORY”
