Greetings my Brothers and Sisters in Christ,

The Mississippi Baptist Seminary, incorporated in March 1944, is one of the oldest institutions of higher education in Mississippi. Owned by the General Mississippi Baptist State Convention, Inc., we continue to build on Mississippi Baptist’s rich legacy by providing a diverse program of study aimed at supporting the Christian Church’s ordained and lay leaders and the African American church community of Mississippi and surrounding areas.

Our primary focus is serving Christian leaders desiring to grow their theological understanding to support the Christian Church in worship, community service, lay leadership, and pastoral ministry. Mississippi Baptist Seminary brings together students and faculty from varying backgrounds to create a stronger learning community while promoting fairness, equity, and inclusion in economic, educational, and workplace opportunities. This emphasis on social justice continues to guide our efforts to educate our populace and create self- sufficiency and security within our culture.

In this season of growth, we stand ready to meet the challenges facing our communities by equipping our students with a strong curriculum that considers the spiritual and human needs of today’s society. We stand in a unique space, having a history and focus on the common beliefs that unite us as fellow believers.
